1. What Are Cookies

As is common practice with almost all professional websites this site uses cookies, which are tiny files that are downloaded to your computer, to improve your experience. This page describes what information they gather, how we use it and why we sometimes need to store these cookies. We will also share how you can prevent these cookies from being stored however this may downgrade or 'break' certain elements of the sites functionality.

2. How We Use Cookies

We use cookies for a variety of reasons detailed below. Unfortunately in most cases there are no industry standard options for disabling cookies without completely disabling the functionality and features they add to this site. It is recommended that you leave on all cookies if you are not sure whether you need them or not in case they are used to provide a service that you use.

3. Disabling Cookies

You can prevent the setting of cookies by adjusting the settings on your browser (see your browser Help for how to do this). Be aware that disabling cookies will affect the functionality of this and many other websites that you visit. Disabling cookies will usually result in also disabling certain functionality and features of this site. Therefore it is recommended that you do not disable cookies.

4. The Cookies We Set

Below is a complete list of the cookies set by Plentiful and their purpose.

Session cookie (userid)

When you log in or register, we set a session cookie to keep you authenticated. This cookie contains your user ID, a wrapped copy of your personal encryption key (used to decrypt your data on each page load), and an HMAC signature to verify integrity. The cookie is HTTP-only and secure, meaning it cannot be read by JavaScript or sent over unencrypted connections. It is removed when you log out.

Demo mode cookie (plentiful_demo)

If you try Plentiful in demo mode, we set a cookie to remember that you are using the demo. This cookie is removed once you register or log in with a real account.

Bank connection cookies (temporary)

When you connect a bank account via Open Banking, we set short-lived cookies to securely manage the connection flow. These include a state token to protect against cross-site request forgery, and a cookie to remember which banking provider you are connecting with. All of these cookies expire automatically within one hour and are deleted once the connection is complete.

5. Third Party Cookies

When you connect your bank account, our authorised Open Banking provider may set cookies during the secure authentication process. These cookies are essential for the bank connection to function and are not used for tracking or advertising purposes.

Plentiful does not use any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking cookies.

6. More Information

Hopefully that has clarified things for you and as was previously mentioned if there is something that you aren't sure whether you need or not it's usually safer to leave cookies enabled in case it does interact with one of the features you use on our site.
